We built a microsite for Project Link—Google’s plan to bring faster, more reliable Internet to the places and people that need it.
Only 16 percent of Africa’s 1 billion people are online, but Google’s Project Link is helping to change this by installing a fiber optic network in Kampala, Uganda, a dense urban center currently limited to pre-broadband speeds. We combined compelling imagery, video assets and text to tell the stories of Kampalan’s whose lives will be improved by having reliable access to the internet for the first time.
Part of our challenge was to differentiate the project from Google’s other access-based projects like Loon and Fiber and demonstrate why the solution is right for Kampala. This meant that beyond creating a compelling story, we needed to name the project. We landed on Project Link because of the ability of Kampalans to create new links to the outside world using their fiber-optic network.
